PC Keycaps

PC keycaps are polycarbonate caps — the clear or frosted sets that make an RGB board actually look like an RGB board. Light passes through the cap and the legend instead of stopping at the top surface, so your underglow reads on every key instead of just leaking around the plate. A clear set over good switches is one of the cleanest looks in the hobby.

Sound is the second reason people pick PC. Polycarbonate is a harder, springier plastic than PBT, so the same switch sounds higher-pitched and more clacky under a PC cap — a glassy "clack" rather than the muted thock of thick PBT. Neither is better; they're different sounds for different builds. If you want deep and muted, stay on PBT. If you want bright and loud, or your board needs help being heard, PC does that.

One practical note: PC caps pick up shine faster than PBT on the keys you rest your fingers on. That's normal for the material — a quick wipe keeps frosted sets looking frosty.

How to choose

1. Profile. Everything here is Cherry profile — the low, uniform-height classic. If you're coming from a stock keyboard, Cherry sits a little lower and flatter than OEM, and it's the profile most of our keycaps collection uses.
2. Key count. Sets run 115 to 207 keys. A 122-key set covers 60% and 65% boards; TKL and full-size need 140+; 160+ covers boards with split spacebars and extra bottom-row keys. Check your layout against the key count on the product page — bottom-row widths are the most common fit problem, especially on 65% and 75%.
3. Legends. Solid-colour PC sets are usually UV printed or blank. PBT/PC hybrids use dye-sub or double-shot legends, which don't fade. If you want legends that glow, pick a shine-through set; fully transparent sets glow through the whole cap.
4. MX stems throughout — fits any MX-style switch, and pairs with anything in our mechanical keyboard switches collection. Hall Effect boards are included; a PC cap is just a cap, so magnetic switch boards take these the same as any MX board.
